21-year-old student of Amankyim SHS commits suicide at Akrokerri Bobrase

A 21-year-old student of Amankyim SHS has been confirmed dead after committing suicide at Akrokerri Bobrase.

Akrokerri Bobrase is a town in the Adanse North District of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

According to reports, the student, Richard Donkor was was found dead on Wednesday in his room after hanging himself.

Earlier, Richard Donkor had threatened to kill himself a day before his death as reported by CitiNewsRoom.

Speaking to CitiNewsRoom, William Osei Anokye, a resident of the town narrated the incidence that led to the student’s death.

“This evening, it was drizzling, so we were all hiding, and I had a call that one boy has committed suicide, so we all went to the scene.

We broke the lock and entered the room, and we saw him hanging in there. So that is what has happened”

Richard Donkor’s reason for committing suicide is unknown to his parents, and school mates even though he had hinted of his possible death.

Ama Duku, the grandmother of the student spoke to Adom News after the incident happened.

‘Richard prepared supper, served his younger brother, and kept the rest of the food in his room”.

She explained that she needed to use the pot, he cooked in, to boil water. Thus, she went into his room for it.

“But the door was locked and when I forced it open, I saw him hanging dead,” Ama Duku said amid tears.

Richard’s death by suicide came as shock as no one expected it.

In may this year, Leticia Kyere Pinaman, a final year student of Miracle Junior High School at Sunyani committed suicide.

Her body was found in the school’s dining hall at a time when students were gathered school’s auditorium for bible studies.
