In the film, Coming to America 1, when Cleo McDowell (John Amos) found out that his daughter, Lisa (Shari Headley) was dating Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and that he was the Prince of Zamunda and had his own money, he told her daughter “Lisa, this time, you’ve hit the jackpot”!

So will I tell Baba Sadiq and his team that this time, after 4 years, they’ve hit the jackpot! What an almost flawless event. In fact, 3 music awards have taken virtual concerts and awards to another level.

The composition of board members, technical production team, bloggers, etc, gave me the hope that this year was going to be superb and I was proved right! The concept, designs, and execution were top-notched.

I can say with my technical expertise that almost all the music performances were pre recorded and played back live. Kudos to the director and producers. Some of the synchronization was perfect. Diana Hamilton, Effe Grace and Kobby Psalm, were exceptional.

Big ups to Yaw Tog,Kofi Jamar,Y Pee and the Kumerican crew. Mr Drew and Kidi, did justice to the Osibisa tribute songs. Medikal, Chris Waddle and Joey B never disappointed us.

Gyakie is the newest sensation in the music world. The reggae dance hall guys like Kapum, Jah Lead, and La Russo showed class.

Nana Acheampong’s performance was exceptional as the band used a lot of loops to enhance his performance. The Santrofi band’s tribute to the fallen heroes in the creative industry under the year of review was nostalgic.

How come Diana Hamilton’s awards receipts were different from the others?  Did some of the recipients have fore knowledge about their wins in such a way that Sarkodie and my daughter Empress Gifty were able to do videos to acknowledge their wins within a twinkle of an eye?

The coordination between the video play out and the nominees’ announcement didn’t synchronize well at times. Ah, well, anything can happen in a virtual world.

They tried their best with the red carpet and little jokes. Congratulations OB Amponsah, Lekzy DC and Akrobeto. Naa Ashorkor and Jay Foley were on point.

With virtually zero sponsorship and with the 3 music production houses able to pull off such a superb event, I give them 85% for such a feat. See you next year and congratulations to all the winners.
