Abdul Ganie Khalid, an eight-year-old Ghana boy has become the first contestant to win the maiden edition of the National Qur’anic Recital Competition.
Abdul Ganie Khalid, a Muslim boy who lives in Ghana’s capital, Accra amazed everyone after being crowned the overall winner.
Abdul Ganie Khalid is said to have been the youngest contest of the maiden edition.
For his prize, Abdul Ganie Khalid received a cash prize of One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc 1,000) and other incentives from sponsors.
The Grande Finale of the maiden edition of the National Qur’anic Recital Competition came last Friday, October 22, 2021, at the GNAT Hall in Adabraka, Accra.
The competition was hosted by Ghanaian GBC journalist, Adbul Hayi Moomen who was assisted by Sham-un Bako and Sani Abdul Rahman.
The maiden edition of the National Qur’anic Recital Competition was attended by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, Nakeeyat the Poet and well-known persons from the Islamic community.
The Islamic TV show started in late August with auditions in three regions, i.e., Northern, Ashanti and Greater Accra where children not older than 13 years were brought together to showcase their Qur’an recitation and memorization skills.
