Earlier, Abu Safianu Yahya was in the news for having being denied admission by three senior high schools in Ghana over his status as an ex-convict even after graduating from junior high school.
Abu sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and scored an aggregate of 16 whilst he was serving his jail sentence at the Kumasi Central Prisons after he and his accomplice snatched someone’s bag in Kumasi when he was 12 years then.
Abu applied for admission in the following schools; Awe Senior High School, Fumbisi Senior High School, and the Sandema Senior High School all in the Upper East Region and was refused admission because he is an ex-convict.
As we speak now, Abu Safianu Yahya has been admitted at Awe Senior High School and said to have started his life as a fresher and a high schooler.
Abu Safianu Yahya bemoaned his plight in an interview with Crime Check TV sighted by unitedshowbiz.com.gh in which he made it known when asked why he was denied admission.
In his answer, Safianu said, ‘All the schools I tried to get admission to asked me to go back to my former school for a recommendation letter before they can admit me.
The Awe SHS headteacher after reading the recommendation from the Kumasi Central Prison where I wrote my BECE, told me unless I go to the Ghana Education Service head office in Accra he wouldn’t be in the position to admit me”
Safianu added that the headmaster of Fumbisi Senior High School was willing to offer him admission but on second thought said, he would get into trouble if he enrolls him.
His dream is to become a Nurse one day as he finds passion it in the job.
