An Accra High Court presided by Justice Ruby Aryeetey has dismissed an appeal filed by the lawyers of Ghanaian actress and socialite, Rosemond Alade Brown known popularly as Akuapem Poloo.
The Criminal Court 1 Division of the High Court has therefore asked that Akuapem Poloo returns to jail to continue her ninety jail term for publishing obscene material and violating the dignity and integrity of her seven-year-old son in a nude photo she posted on social media in June 2020.
Akuapem Poloo is expected to go and serve her 82 days jail term left.
The court has explained why it still needs to jail the actress despite the many “Free Akuapem Poloo” campaigns.
Lawyer for convicted actress Akuapem Poloo has described as harsh the decision of the High Court to dismiss the appeal of his client.
Earlier she was granted a ¢80,000 bail, pending the determination of the appeal.
On Wednesday, the Court presided by Justice Ruby Aryeetey found her appeal without merit, therefore, ordered her to go and continue her 90-day imprisonment.
The court also ordered that her son should be given to any competent person in the family to take care of him, while his mother serves her sentence at the Nsawam Prison.
