Drake pulls out of Grammy Awards 2022 race; as he withdraws two nominations

News emerging is that Drake and his management has asked Recording Academy Grammys to rescind his two nominations in this year’s competition for Grammy Awards.

Two people who spoke to AP on condition of anonymity confirmed that the Academy had honoured Drake’s request.

A check on Grammys’w website has revealed that Drake’s nomination is missing in the tall list of nominees.

Drake was nominated for best rap album “Certified Lover Boy” and “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug, which earned a nomination for best rap performance.

No reason has been communicated officially for this sudden withdrawal.

The ‘God’s Plan’ hitmaker has criticized the Academy in the past for not nominating him for other categories. He targetted the relevance of the Grammy Awards during his acceptance speech when his track ‘God’s Plan’ won the best rap song in 2019.


This is what Drake said that got his speech cut right in the middle of making it, “If there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don’t need this right here. I promised you, you already won,” said Drake while holding his trophy. Before the rapper continued, his speech was cut off.

Eev though Drake has withdrawn from the competition, the Grammy Awards would come off in Los Angeles on 31st January.
