Ghanaian afrobeat/afro singer, Jackline Acheampong known professionally as Gyakie has successfully completed her studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
The ”Forever” singer has completed a 4-year tertiary education programme in Business Administration.
In new photos sighted by unitedshowbiz.com.gh on social media, Gyakie is seen with her friends and course makes jubilating over their new achievement.
Gyakie posted a snapshot of her and a classmate wearing the same colour shirt.
Gyakie broke into mainstream music while she was in KNUST.
Gyakie released her first single in 2019 titled; “Love is Pretty” which paved way for another single, “Never Like This.”
A marine blue long-sleeved shirt was worn by Gyakie and the young man with whom she posed in the shot.
Some of the singer’s classmates looked to be posing so that she might remember the experience.
After defending their project work, it looked the couple had done an outstanding job.
Gyakie is reported to have studied Business Administration and completed the degree despite her growing fame and success.
It was just a matter of time until her popular song was remixed by Omah Lay and played on repeat all over the world.
In Ghana, Gyakie is one of the very few performers who has managed to balance both his music career and his academic studies.
The songstress is the daughter of Ghanaian artist Nana Acheampong, a star in his own right.
An Interview with Gyakie
Gyakie may not be the first creative to find herself in this predicament but the speed with which she was shot to fame through her ‘Forever’ song makes her case an interesting one.
But she is poised and though her real interest lies in the music, a lot of her focus is on the academics as well “so it has gotten very difficult but I am almost done.”
She told JoyNews’ Becky that “I’m beginning to get extremely interested in the music. And so sometimes when I am studying, and I remember a song that I was about to finish. I will pause the studying and listen to the beat. But I tell myself to switch back to learning. But I have a couple of weeks to complete.” she said.
