Early Life

Jackie Appiah was born in Ontario in 1983. While in Canada, she attended Deridan Elementary school. When she was 10, she moved with her mother to Ghana. She continued her education at Faith Montessori.

The family has not opened up on why they moved back to Ghana, while the father who is brother to Joe Appiah – one of Ghana’s finest lawyers – stayed back. She is the last of five children.

Soon after resettling in Ghana, she joined her church choir group and shot to prominence.

Jackie Appiah got married to Peter Agyemang in 2005. The couple had a son, Damien, together. However, the marriage could not withstand the test of time. Three years into the marriage, it failed even though the divorce was not finalized until 2012.


It was alleged that Peter Agyemang is an abusive man who physically abused the actress while they were married. He has however rubbished that claim, also calling his former wife a liar.


In 2013, Jackie was rumoured to be in a romantic affair with Nigeria activist, Michael Bobby Obodo. She shot down this allegation amidst a lack of evidence to prove it.


Then came another rumour that Ghana’s finest actress was pregnant for H.E George Oppong Weah, Liberian President. She, however, shot down this allegation, as having no iota of truth in it on United showbiz hosted by Nana Ama McBrown.

Jackie Appiah after senior high school enrolled in the University of Ghana to read Theatre Arts. She moved into the Ghana movie industry soon as she graduated.

Appiah’s appearance on screen became regular when she was invited by Edward Seddoh Junior, the writer of Things We Do For Love, where she played the role of Enyonam Blagogee.

She later took part in Tentacles, Games People Play, Sun-city and many other TV series.
