Shawn Corey Carter, better known by his stage name Jay-Z, an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, businessman, and record producer who was born on December 4, 1969.
He is widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time, and is often referred to as one of the best rappers of all time.
Among all the world’s legendary figures, American rapper and record executive Jay-Z says he wants to be remembered in the same way that Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley is remembered.
Although Jay-Z, who is age 51, is already regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time and is often cited as one of the greatest rappers of all time.
He told The UK Times in a recent interview that he hopes that he will be remembered in the same way that Bob Marley is remembered today.
“I’m not beyond ego, right? Hopefully, they speak of me [with] the names of Bob Marley and all the greats. But that’s not for me to say”,when asked how he wanted to be remembered, he said.
Jay Z paid a visit to Bob Marley’s hometown in 2017 and filmed the event in the music video for his song Bam, which features Damian Marley, Bob Marley’s youngest son. Sister Nancy’s Bam Bam, who also appears in the video, is sampled in the song.
Jay Z spoke about the profound effect the experience had on him as he visited the landscapes of Trench Town with Damian, and revealed that he grew up listening to Bob Marley.
It was really powerful for me when I came here. This is music I listened to my whole life. My mom and dad, they collected records and they just played music all the time. Bob was like a major source in our house. I turned into a kid when I came here,The American Rapper(Jay-Z) said
Several other rappers have cited Bob Marley as an inspiration including the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Nas, Snoop Dogg and Tory Lanez who said earlier this month his ultimate goal is a legacy like the late Bob Marley.
Many others, as well as Wyclef Jean, Erykah Badu, Lauren Hill, Rihanna, and others, have said that Bob Marley has influenced their musical journey in multiple ways, from growing up jamming to his music to being inspired by his message.
