The award-winning Grammy artist Koffee is getting ready to drop her debut sophomore album. The young dancehall hitmaker, who became the first woman to win the Best Reggae Album and the youngest artist, indicated that her album “will be really awesome.”
Many will agree that Koffee has her own signature sound, which has led many, including the former President of the United States, Barrack Obama, to love her songs.
The 21-year-old songstress detailed exactly what she wants to bring to the table this time around in an interview recently with Rolling Stone.
“I want to speak of a solution and of a way that we can come together and get along, even when things are going wrong,”The publication was told by Koffee.
Furthermore, preaching a message of peace, compassion, and togetherness, she said, “Positivity is definitely a theme. It will be a very interesting twist for people who knew my music before, and also for people who will discover me. I think it will be really awesome.”
She will be nominated for more awards even as the artist gets ready to release her album. She was among three reggae artists earlier this month who was nominated for the 52nd NAACP Image Award, organized by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, based in the US.
In the Outstanding Foreign Collaborations categories, she was nominated for the track “Pressure,” which was remixed by Buju Banton. The native of Spanish Town has also been nominated for her summer banger “Lockdown”
While the pandemic put a damper on some of the performances she was scheduled for last year, she seems to have concentrated her attention on making more music.
She described her work on the forthcoming album and an interview last year, and said:“I am doing a little camp right now, that’s just me and some musicians and producers and a few artistes.
We just a build a vibes, seeing where that vibe takes us, and hopefully we create magic,” she said in an interview.
As we await the drop of her album, there was talk that after they were spotted in the studio last February, it might star Nigerian singer Burna Child.
Koffee has collaborated with rapper Gunna already, so there is a chance of collaborating on the project with many more foreign entertainers. The specific time of release is also little detailed, although some have speculated that it may be this summer. We’ll wait until then to see what the twist will be.
