Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah: 60-year-old woman becomes oldest graduate from KNUST to acquire a degree

Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah has defied all odds to attain a degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at age 60.

Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah has therefore become the oldest graduate from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to acquire a degree.

Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in December 2021 after completing 4-year studies in Sociology.

Though she is married, Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah has a great passion for education and sees herself in the future as a great person.

Speaking to the press, Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah revealed that her inability to pursue a degree earlier is attributed to several reasons, but mainly the fact that she chose to sacrifice and put her family on a higher pedestal while giving them every possible support.

Recounting her journey, Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah revealed she had to quit her former job at the bank to start her own business so she could better care for their children.

While their father was abroad for two years, she paid for their education, ensured their well-being, fed them, and sent funds to her husband so he could complete his master’s degree.

Thankfully, her husband was able to complete her master’s degree and came back to Ghana and got many opportunities to work with firms and he is doing well.

Mrs Elsie Asiedu-Appiah has been putting herself aside to watch her family excel for decades. She decided to pursue her Bachelor’s degree as a grandmother after halting with her high school diploma.

According to her family, she had many sleepless nights studying for exams and had to come up to speed with technology.
