‘My Family members disowned and stigmatized me for participating in Date Rush’ – Ali shares ordeal

Ali participated in the TV3 Date Rush show in Season 5 and got a date with well-endowed lady Shemima who caused a stir on the show with her voluptuous backside in episode 6.

Before participating in the match-making show, Ali was disowned by his family members when he decided to be on the show.

According to him, some family members and relatives criticized and stigmatized him in other to deter him from pursuing his dreams and appearing on the show.

Ali who is optimistic about the future believes that participating in the Date Rush show has been one of his best decisions and has led to enmity between him and his family members for refusing to heed to their advice.

As a muslim, his family members were of the view that his participation in the match-making show will go against the dictates of Islam.

Islam forbids all sexual relationships outside marriage. Allah (God, in English) says, “Do not come near fornication, for it is indeed lewdness and an evil lifestyle”, (Al-Isra’ 17- 32).

Rather, in Islam pre-marital relationships of any kind between members of the opposite sex are forbidden.

In an interview with Elsie Lamar on GhanaWeb’s Talkertainment show, Ali said in his words that;

“My family have always warned me not to venture into the entertainment industry. Even when I started acting at an early age, my parents on several occasions threatened to disown me if I don’t stop.

Up until now some of my family members are not happy I participated in Date Rush. They have refused to talk to me and have cut every means of communication with me,”

Ali went on to say that, despite being saddened by the harsh reaction he received, he had no regrets about his decision to participate in the show.

“The first day my mother saw me on stage, she called to query me about participating in such a show.

She asked why I would go on National Television to search for a woman.

Unfortunately for me, the show was airing during Ramadan season and she asked why I would choose to do that in a holy month. She didn’t know it was recorded,” he added.
