Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa: Meet Ghana’s youngest graduate and academic prodigy at age 17 who read Mathematics at KNUST

Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa, a young Ghanaian lady has become the youngest graduate in his home country after graduating university at age 17.

Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa became the youngest student to be admitted to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi in 2017 after completing secondary school.

Ruth is now 17 years old and has completed KNUST after reading Mathematics.

Ruth has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics (B.Sc. Mathematics) from KNUST and is expected to enter the job market soon.

Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa graduates from KNUST

Ruth Ama Gyan-Darkwa life and upbringing

Ruth was born to Mr and Mrs Kwadwo Gyan-Darkwa on May 29, 2004.

She is one of her parents’ 8 children.

The star child is from Anyimon, Berekum in the Brong-Ahafo Region but she grew up at Prempeh College, Kumasi with her family where her father works as a senior school mathematics and physics teacher.

For manifesting natural brilliance quite early, Ruth’s parents enrolled her in Kindergarten at age 3.

A year later, she furthered at Christ Our Hope International school for her basic education despite appearing too young.

She finished excellently at 8 and then continued with Juinor High at Abraham Lincoln International School.

While still in Junior High School class 1 and aged 9, Ruth sat for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the Justice International School Asuofua in the Ashanti Region.

As you might expect, she also did great in the exam and was thus, admitted into St. Louis Senior High at a very young age of 10.

By age 12, the amazingly intelligent child completed her Senior High School education.
