Sani Majeed: Final year student of UEW dies after breaking his neck while jubilating with friends after final exams

Sani Majeed, a final year student of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has been confirmed dead after breaking his neck. The incident happened on the campus of UEW on Thursday, September 9, 2021, while he and his friends were having jubilation.

The SRC quickly released a statement confirming the news and cautioning other students to be careful when celebrating.

According to a report gathered by, Sani Majeed and his friends were jubilating after the end of their final exams.

Sani Majeed who finished his papers on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, was seen exhibiting their skills in acrobatics together with his friends when the unfortunate incident happened.

Sani Majeed was rushed to the Winneba Trauma Hospital for medical treatment.

Finally, he died while receiving treatment at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital in Accra.

Doctors say his fractured neck cost him his life since it affected his spinal cord and that he needed immediate surgery.

An official letter on the incident by the SRC

The Students’ Representative Council of the university quickly released a message of condolence to sympathize with the family of Majeed about the incident that happened just yesterday, September 9, 2021.

Signed by the public relations officer, Aziz Asaana Imoro, the letter again cautioned all students who have finished their exams to be extremely circumspect and moderate when they are celebrating in order not to have similar incidents repeated on the campus.
