Fast-rising Ghanaian teen rapper, Thorsten Owusu Gyimah, better known as Yaw Tog has been under social media attack for saying he made Stormzy more popular in Ghana.
Stormzy is a UK-based Ghanaian rapper who Yaw Tog claims he made more popular in Ghana after featuring him on his ‘SORE’ remix.
Social media users have since reacted to what Yaw Tog said.
Some say he has become arrogant in the shortest possible time and has been advised to be humble.
When asked on the TV3 morning show ‘New Day’ whether or not it was Stormzy who made him more popular in the music industry, he did not completely agree with the fact.
Here is what ensued between Yaw Tog and MzGee during the interview;
MzGee: There is a perception that Stormzy made you more popular than you are now. How do you think it worked?
Do you think that you got Stormzy being recognized more in the Ghanaian market?
Yaw Tog: ‘’He made me popular in the music market but I made him more popular too. We both did magic to ourselves and magic to our brands.’’
It seems some Ghanaians are disappointed in Yaw Tog and have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media. They have labeled the young Ghanaian rapper as arrogant.
Yaw Tog was criticized a few weeks ago after acknowledging his ‘haters’ during his acceptance speech after winning the ‘Hip Hop Song Of The Year’ at the just ended VGMA.
