It was a great day for Kintampo SHS and St Mary’s Boys contestants as they managed to secure a slot in the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) National Championship expected to commence in October this year.
At the end of what seemed to be a simple contest in the Western zone, St Mary’s Boys SHS secured 45 points to dismantle the efforts of Daboase, Asankragwa SHTS and Esiama SHS.
The three schools were no match for St Mary’s Boys as they were unable to come by at least 20 points.
Sharing the same fate – Guakro Effah and Konkrompe SHS in the Bono-Ahafo zone could not keep up with Kintampo SHS, who, with 37 points, progressed to the next stage of the competition.
Guakro Effah and Konkrompe SHS were also unable to score anything above 20 points.
Meanwhile, both Kintampo SHS and St Mary’s Boys are still in the race of becoming Bono-Ahafo Regional Champions and Western Regional Champions respectively.
The race to secure a slot in the national championship keeps getting keener as the number of slots available reduces as time passes.
Already, Archbishop Porter Girls has secured a spot in the national competition with several others including St Thomas Aquinas SHS, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Girls’ SHS, St. John’s School, Tarkwa SHS and Fiaseman SHS.
