USAG elects UG Medical Student, Philip Christian Armah as 2021 President

The University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) has elected Philip Christian Armah; former University of Ghana Korle-Bu JCR President as 2021 President.

Philip Christian Armah won the election after garnering 335 votes against Emmanuel Osei Osafo’s 124 votes and Frank Koomson’s 21.

He came first after beating two others in the election which was held at the Islamic University College in Accra.

Philip Christian Armah is a medical student of the University of Ghana (UG), a laboratory scientist from KNUST, football lover and a part time politician.

Nominations for the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) 2020/2021 elections was opened on 1st March 2021 for prospective applicants interested in occupying leadership positions in the body.

A press statement signed by the USAG President, Paul Abrokwa indicated that the filing fee for the presidential nomination is set at 1,200.00 Ghana Cedis whilst other portfolios go for GHC 1000.00.

“Senate also accepted the following charges for the filing of nominations; President-GHs 1200.00 and all other portfolios-GHs 1000.00. Full payment of the above listed will be demanded before the release of the nomination form to any prospective candidate,” portion of the statement reads.

Senators agreed on the filing fees and charges for nominations at a second and final senate meeting.
