Vybz Kartel took time out yesterday after a birthday party to pay tribute to his father on his birthday. Incarcerated dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel may not be physically present to attend family gatherings, however, usually via his Instagram account, he still manages to find a way to make his voice and thoughts known.
Many fans ask from time to time whether the account is run by Kartel himself, but nevertheless, they enjoy the connection they are still able to maintain with their “Teacha.”
“Photos of his father and other members of his family were posted earlier tonight, with the caption, ” “Happy Birthday me Don. One more Sun Cycle me G. More Blessing More Strength.”
The father of the King of Dancehall celebrated his birthday in fine style today. The festivities featured a blue, white, and gold theme similar to that of Vybz’s grandson’s baby shower, held a few months ago at what appears to be the same venue.
On a white throne chair with blue and gold balloons in the background and two decadent cakes featured on pedestals, the elder Mr. Palmer is seen sitting in an all-white suit. One of the cakes had gold studs emblazoned in blue and featured a large crown for a topper.
A lavish dinner was attended by the rest of the family members, and photographs were posted showing them at the luxuriously decorated dining table that suited the theme.
This is not the first time that Vybz Kartel has taken his father to social media to offer his homage. He also paid tribute to him last Father’s Day and posted some never-before-seen pictures of Elder Palmer.
After completing 35 years, Kartel, who is currently serving life in prison for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, will be eligible for parole. He lodged an appeal in April 2020, and his parole was reduced to 32 years and 6 months.
While he has been imprisoned since 2011, he has always managed to stay popular in the mass media, regularly releasing hit songs.
It was revealed recently that his sons were being groomed to take over Adidjahiem Records, his Portmore Empire music label. In an interview with OnStage, his 16-year-old son, Likkle Addi, announced that when he turns 18, he and his older brother, Likkle Vybz, will formally take over the music empire.
“To wish Mr. Palmer a happy birthday, many fans took the opportunity to hop into the comment section, including popular blogger Akademiks, who wrote, “BOSS. I remember u saying the ethics of ur Job came from ur Dad! Strong Blessed Earth 2 Him. Gaza Strip 4 Eva.
Happy Birthday to Mr. Palmer!
