Elaine Chappelle met her now husband Dave Chappelle in her native Brooklyn after he had moved there to pursue a professional career in comedy after graduating from Washington’s Duke Ellington School of the Arts with a degree in theatre arts.

Dave Chappelle made his first major appearance in the HBO show “Def Comedy Jam “in 1992 which got him more opportunities and in no time he was a regular guest in late night shows such as the Howard Steve show and the Late Night Show with David Letterman just to name a few.
Dave Chappelle in addition had started pursuing an acting career with a debut film appearance playing the role of Ancho in Mel Brooks’ 1993 comedy film Robin Hood.
It was followed by the portrayal of Ozzie in the comedy crime film “Undercover Blues”.
In that same year, he had the chance to start his own sitcom entitled “Buddies” which aired on ABC but unfortunately got cancelled after five episodes due to low ratings.
At the time he had wanted to quit his career since he was overwhelmed by grief due to the death of his father. Luckily for him, he bounced back and landed the role of Reggie Warrington in the 1996 comedy film “Nutty Professor”, alongside Eddie Murphy and then went ahead to have roles in “Pinball Parker” and the romantic film comedy ” The Real Blonde ” both in 1997.
After dating for a while, Dave Chappelle walked Elaine Chappelle down the aisle in a private ceremony in 2001 and went ahead to have three kids Sulaymaniyah, Ibrahim and Sinaa.
The couple has been married for 21 years and the family of five now resides on a 65-acre farm near Yellow Springs, Ohio.
